The Chiavenna Valley’s Wine Growers and Producers Association was born in 2006 in Prato Ottesola, a Lugagnano’s hamlet, and the board of directors, whose Chairman is Fabio Buzzetti, is composed by Bernardino Castellana, Giuseppe Barbuti, Fabrizio Camorali, Pierluigi Mignani, Valter Colombi and Mirella Marchetti, all young local wine growers. Among the main labels there are Solecurtus (Monterosso Val d’Arda doc of the Piacenza’s hills - still wine), Lunatia (Gutturnio doc of the Piacenza’s hills - still wine) and Niso (raisin wine of Malvasia), three bottles whose names refer to three fossils present in the wine-making area, the Placentianum Geological Reserve, Pliocene hills rich in gullies, sandy stratifications dated at five million years ago and marine rests of the “Whales Gulf”.
The Association found its seat soon in the Torricella, a little sighting tower in Chiavenna Rocchetta, where wine growers propose their products in a new wine shop, a showcase about the world of God Bacchus. A particularity of wines, appreciated by Slow Food as well, Luca Maroni and Paolo Massobrio, is the union of the seven producers’ vine varieties for the realization of the Bacchus’s nectar, in addition to a very persistent fragrance and a fruity and full-bodied taste. Companies are always at your disposal to organize visits to their cellars and vineyards and to do guided tastings in English, French and German too.
